Akina is a sustainable clothing design studio. Born from a need for comfy and ethical swimwear, our luxurious recycled fabric is manufactured in Italy and sewn locally in our studio in Cape Town. Founded in 2016.

In studio, we have a part time patternmaker, a cutter and two full time seamstresses that sew all Akina pieces, with lots of love.

About the name.  Akina means Spring Flower, symbolising a new life. We take pride in the reincarnation of post consumer waste into all our fabrics, helping to reduce the environmental impact. Each collection is committed to our vision to use sustainable materials while embodying the goodness and individuality of the women who wear our garments.

It is all about locally-made swimwear and sleepwear for sassy women, that feels good to wear without compromising the earth.
